Cantilevered Stair

Wood Cantilevered Stairs are a progression from stone stairs that were very popular in Europe through the 1800's to the 1900's.

This style is known for being a free standing design with extra support being built into the stairs.

The underside of the stairs are normally very ornately trimmed with panels of some type such as inset panels or raised panels.

Here is a version of a Cantilevered stair built as a J - shaped stair.

I'm not sure if there is many standards in this design, but most times its seen with a one tread overlap of the preceding tread from above

Incredible craftsmanship on all sides of this staircase. Also the free standing landing
make  this a very difficult installation.
