An Octagon Newel Post and Rail Cap start off this very nice handrail system as it twists and turns up 3 stories.
You can see examples of a few different twist
fittings used together to make the necessary turns to follow over the stairs and balconies.
The picture on the right is a 180 Rake to Rake twist is a combination of 2 pieces joined in the center over what looks like a 10" cylinder well hole.
The Octagon Newel Post is unique in itself
where the flat panel sides have a large cove grooved down the center of each panel.
I really like the finial turned and installed on the top of the rail cap, it adds a great touch of detail.
I like the scalloped trim under the landing tread and how it matches the stair brackets
The picture above is a great example of 2 twist fittings used to make up the transition from rake rail up to the level balcony.
The joint will be in the center of the 180 turn and the height difference is made up with both fittings.
